Car Accident Tips

In a car accident? Here are the 5 things you must do:

1. Call the police – without the motor vehicle crash being properly documented by a police report you can severely hurt your case. The story of how an accident occurred, even 1 hour after a crash, can vary greatly. No matter how minor, no matter how much of a rush – Police reports are essential!

2. Take pictures – a picture truly is worth a thousand words. Get a picture of your car and any other cars involved. Take pictures of people, witnesses, road conditions, etc… cell phone pictures are better than nothing!

3. Get names of witnesses – everything may seem clear at the scene of an accident, but stories change, reports can be wrong, and the only way to win a case that goes to court is with an independent witness. A name and phone number is enough.

4. Exchange insurance information – most people will readily exchange auto insurance information at an accident scene. If not obtained at that time however, the only way to get the information later on (if not volunteered), is to start a lawsuit. Get documentation, license plates, vehicle descriptions, etc…

5. Call Guy – if I don’t answer my phone and you leave a message to call you, I can usually return phone calls within a matter of minutes. Let me be a calm, trusted voice for you when your adrenaline is pumping and your body is hurting. It doesn’t matter if you’re at fault for the accident or not, I am just happy to answer your questions if you have them.
